Booked for 2 nights. Staff very friendly. Food excellent. Beautiful location. Good service in bar, chatty staff. Room 43 was a huge room. A bit tired, bathroom needed a coat of paint. Bath panel needed either replaced or painted too. Using hairdryer but there was no mirror near a plug which was not great. Used the pool which was lovely but again area a bit tired. Jacuzzi not available, we had been told it would not be working before we came though. Enjoyed the peaceful location and would come back. Entrance reminded me of Stobo Castle as did the beautiful rooms where the seating was. Obviously it's in a different league and money is no object but it would be easy to step up to that level I think with good management

Hotel rooms and lounges are decorated to high standard, very clean and looked after. Rooms very warm (had to open the windows in winter) showers hot and strong. Free WiFi all around the hotel. TV in rooms seem tiny, but that’s because all the rooms are huge, you get your steps in and that’s just in a bedroom. Dog friendly, you can go to most places with the dog (Dinning room, one lounge and the pool area are out of bounds for dogs) The conservatory is where you can eat with your dog (3 steps down), in the winter it was warm enough. For breakfast you have to walk to dinning room, get the food on a tray and walk back, which is about 50 meters. Im sure if need be the staff would help. Some went above and beyond, most were friendly and happy to help, one or two were obviously having a bad day, but weren’t rude. The grounds are great for exploring during the day, only a few lights at night. We booked B&B, its a buffet breakfast, the hot food was cooked and hot enough, did hear other complain it was only warm but guess if the lids are left off it cools quick, there was a £3.50 supplement for eggs Benedict and few others, could ask for fried or poached for free. You wont go hungry, plenty of choice. We had dinner first night, not very good, in fact half the meals were bad, burnt, overcooked. The others were ok, nothing special. The lounge seats were comfy and good place to chat with the other guests. The pool area is tired, maybe more noticeable because the rest of the hotel is so well kept, but perfectly usable. Would definitely recommend and we will be back, wont have dinner in the hotel as plenty places nearby

Cally palace was absolutely STUNNING. Stayed here on Saturday 16th of January. The hotel was so nice and quiet. Our room was massive along with beautiful big windows which looked out on the the green at the bar. The bed was thee most comfortable bed ever! My husband is a pianists so when we arrived and he spotted the steinway piano he had to have a shot i could not fault the staff in anyway. I lost my wedding ring and engagement ring. Pam at reception was on hand to help. Unfortunately my rings were not there but housekeeping found my straighteners! Pam offered to have them posted back to me which was a fab help as we stay in glasgow. The grounds and golf course are absolutely stunning. We went a walk round and found the remins of an old school build for girls! There was a little sign with lots of information about cally palace and the gardens. Such a beautiful hotel. I'd love to come back at Christmas! Couldn't recommend callah palace enough. Beautiful place and wonderful staff

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this grand old hotel. Bags of character and charm. Large room in the Forest wing with lovely views, very clean and well appointed. Staff were friendly and professional. Bonus having the pool, jacuzzi and snooker table. Huge public rooms for relaxing with drinks. Looking forward to visiting again. But, small thing, I notice that the chips have been mentioned before..

Had a wonderful stay here. The staff were both friendly and professional. The only negative is that the room is a bit dated and our window had a large cap, causing a draft. This made the room as it was - 4 some nights. Food was good , although had apple crumble on my last night that wasn't the best. All in all we had a brilliant stay and would stay again.

We had a much needed weekend break last weekend at The Cally Palace Hotel. The location is stunning, the food was really good, the room was clean and large, the pool/sauna/jacuzzi was clean and warm. The staff were extremely professional (particularly Liz in the dining room) and they made our stay very enjoyable. Definitely value for money. Will definitely go back

Wow!! This has been an amazing 3 night stay at this hotel this January for my boyfriend’s birthday. We had a really relaxing 3 night stay. We dined one evening in the bar/ conservatory and the food was delicious. Vegetarians are catered for which is great. Bar staff very attentive and knowledge. Barry the barman made us feel very welcome, lots of lovely cocktails made. We stayed in the deluxe double suite, it was perfect. So spacious and clean. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, walked around the lake. Beautiful setting. Sue the receptionist ensured a box of local homemade chocolates were ready in the room for boyfriend for his birthday. Thank you Sue. We enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna. We made the most of the pool, snooker and table tennis table. Breakfast - lots of choice in a spacious dining room with wonderful views. Staff very attentive. Loved our 3 night stay. Would definitely book again.
